STANDARD CONNECTORS
 
   

Also called "first generation connectors", have low levels of density in ODFs and in fiber panels. While the "E2000" connector is normally offered for SM applications and the "SC" is offered in angulated versions, for APC terminations, the "FC" connector is offered in both versions.
The other type of connectors are used for MM / SM applications and for LAN and WAN environments. Both "SMA" and "FC" are secured by screw; the "ST" by bayonet while the "SC" and the "E2000" are secured by clipping.

SFF CONNECTORS
 
   
SFF connectors have been developed to achieve higher interconnect densities on distribution panels than that achieved by other standards. The existing standards are based on 2.5 mm OD ferrules, while the SFF configurations are based on a smaller 1.25 mm ferrule or MT ribbon design.
The SFF form is meant to emulate the familiar RJ-11/RJ-45 phone plug/jack.
